The LC Men's Basketball Team won at home against Pensacola Christian on Monday, 89-79. The victory improves the Panthers to 3-2 and puts them back in the win column after a Saturday overtime loss to Sewanee.
LaGrange jumped out to a 15-6 lead just five minutes into the game and held steady. When Pensacola cut the LC advantage to two, the Panthers went on a tear, bringing the lead to 11 entering halftime.
Bershard Edwards led the Panthers in scoring in the half, amassing 14 points. Zac Hill and Gabe Cofield combined for 21 more, giving the trio 35 of the team's 43 points at the half.
In the second half it was much of the same, as LC extended the lead to 20 and the margin hovered around 15 for most of the half. Pensacola cut the lead down to six, but that's as close as it got, with LC extending the lead back to double digits and holding on for an impressive win.
Edwards led the Panthers in scoring, rebounds and assists, racking up 24 points, 12 boards and nine assists. The rest of the starters combined to score all but eight of the Panthers 89.
Hill finished the night with 18 and eight rebounds in only 24 minutes of game action due to fouling out. Brodie Scott, making his first career college start, went for 11 (all in the second half) and four boards. The final two starters, Cofield and Camerin Lyons went for 15 and 13 points respectively.
The Panthers get some holiday time off before hitting the road on Sunday, November 27, at the Mississippi University for Women.
