The Panthers hit the road to take on William Peace (Dec. 29) and Southern Virginia (Dec. 30) in this year's Guilford Classic.
The teams
The Panthers are 7-4 and are coming off of a 97-78 defeat to Sewanee (Dec. 17). Despite losing by 19 points, the team played hard to the very end and showed great poise. Freshman Samuel Moss has continued to lead the Panthers in scoring (16.2 points per game) and steals (2.2 per game). Moss has recently won CCS Rookie of the Week four weeks in a row. Sophomore Brodie Scott leads LC in rebounds with 6.4 per game and consistently proves to be one of the hardest workers when on the court. William Peace is 4-5 and most recently was handed a 78-65 loss to #6 Hampden Sydney College (Dec. 12). Fifth-year senior forward Beau Bryant leads William Peace in scoring with 14 points per game. Southern Virginia is 3-6 and are coming off of a 92-69 loss to Randolph College (Dec. 16). Sophomore Koa Baker averages a team-high 16.7 points per game. The Utah native was named USA South Rookie Of The Year and led the conference with 239 rebounds last season.
The series history
LaGrange College is 4-4 against William Peace. The last time the two teams played, William Peace won 88-68 (Feb. 16, 2020). The Panthers have not played the Knights of Southern Virginia in recent history.
