LaGrange travels to Atlanta on Wednesday to take on nationally ranked Emory in a non-conference matchup. The Panthers come into the game 4-3 this season, with two of the losses against Division II opponents.
After the Emory game, the Panthers take a break for final exams. LC resumes its schedule Dec. 12 at Birmingham-Southern, followed by an exhibition game at Division I Jacksonville State on Dec. 13. The Panthers return to Mariotti Gym on Dec. 15 against USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan in a non-counting conference game.
Seniors Kyle Brown and Bershard Edwards have led LC through the first seven games. Brown is tied for fourth in the USA South in scoring, averaging 18.3 points per game and sixth in assists per game (3.6). He also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.0 rebounds per game. Edwards is averaging 13.9 points per game, setting career highs for points in three of his last five games. He is second to Brown in assists (2.7) and rebounds (4.9) per game. Edwards has hit 10-of-22 3-point shots, for a team best 45.5 percentage from beyond the arc.
Sophomore Cooper Dolhancyk is averaging 11.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Junior Zac Hill is averaging 9.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Hill has a team high 18 steals. Camerin Lyons is averaging 8.4 points per game coming off the bench. Sophomore Gabe Cofield and junior Andrew Shepherd are tied for the team lead with 11 3-pointers each.
As a team, the Panthers are third in the USA South in scoring, averaging 79.6 points per game. LC ranks fifth with 52 3-pointers.
Emory, ranked 22nd in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, enters the game 3-2 and winners of its last two games. The Eagles started 1-2, with one of the losses coming to top-ranked Randolph-Macon. Senior Matthew Schner leads the Eagles in scoring (21.4 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg). He has a team leading 11 3-pointers.
