The LaGrange men's basketball team handed out its 2021-22 team awards as announced by Coach Kendal Wallace. The awards are voted on by the team.
Senior forward Kyle Brown received the Cecil Major Defensive Award and the Delma Fowler Most Valuable Player Award. Brown was s a first team USA South All-Conference and West Division selection. He led the the team in scoring (17.9 points per game), rebounding (7.6 rebounds per game), steals (39), and blocks (22). He was second on the team in field goal percentage (54.4) minutes played (973) and assists (96). Brown earned USA South Men's Basketball Player of the Week twice during the season. In the USA South statistic rankings, Brown was fifth in scoring, fourth in rebounding, ninth in field goal percentage, second in minutes played, and fourth in assists. He led the team with ninth double-doubles.
Senior guard Bershard Edwards received the Hiram Reeves Most Dedicated Award and the Al Mariotti Leadership Award. Edwards was a USA South West Division first team selection. He was second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game. Edwards led the team in minutes played (981), free throw percentage (84.8, 39-of-46), and assists (108). He became the first Panther to have over 100 assists in a season in the program's NCAA era. Edwards was second on the team in 3-point shots made (41) and tied for second in steals (34). Edwards led the conference in minutes played and assists.
Junior forward Zac Hill received the Nick Mitchell Most Improved Player Award. Hill represented the Panthers on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. He was third on the team in scoring, averaging 12.2 points per game and second in rebounding, averaging 5.9 rebounds per game. Hill tied for second on the team with 34 steals and was second with 16 blocks.
Sophomore guard Grant Evans earned the Glenn Simpson Academic Award. Evans had a GPA of 3.36 and is an Education Studies major.
The Panthers were 16-11 overall and 10-2 in the USA South, earning a share of the West Divison regular season championship. The Panthers advanced to the semifinals of the USA South Tournament. LC defeated nationally-ranked Maryville twice during the season, including a 65-62 win in the conference tournament quarterfinals.
