Sophomore shortstop Danielle Newbern is the USA South Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 3. Newbern helped lead the Panthers to a 4-0 record.
Newbern went 9-for-15 (.600) with two doubles, two home runs, a walk, four stolen bases, 12 runs scored and 10 RBIs. In the season-opening doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan (Ga.), She was a combined 4-for-7 with six runs scored, five RBIs, a home run, a walk and two stolen bases. Newbern finished her week by going 5-for-8 with six runs scored, five RBIs, two doubles, a home run and two stolen bases in the two wins over Salem.
