Visiting St. John Fisher (N.Y.) took a doubleheader from LaGrange on Wednesday. The Cardinals (2-2) took the first game 5-0, then outscored the Panthers (4-2) 13-5 in the second game.
In the first game, St. John Fisher's Danielle Leone and Sara Stefanon held the Panthers to a base hit by Courtney Beshel. Dani Gravett (2-1) took the loss, allowing four runs; only two earned, in four innings. Amanda Stukel pitched the final three innings, giving up a run on three hits.
The Cardinals built a 7-0 lead going to the bottom of the third inning. Laura Webber got the Panthers going with a lead off single in the bottom of the inning and later came around to score on Kayla Grizzle's double.
The Panthers executed the double steal to get their second run in the third. Danielle Newbern stole second as pinch-runner Lindsey Hogan took home to make it 7-2.
In the fourth inning, Beshel hit her first home run of the season, a solo shot over the center field fence for the Panthers' third run of the game. The Panthers got their final two runs in the sixth inning.
Gravett singled to left center followed by walks to Beshel and Cheyenne Pruitt to load the bases. Webber went the opposite way with a two-run single to right to score Gravett and Beshel.
The Panthers finished the game with eight hits. Webber finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
The Panthers go on the road for USA South games at Maryville on Saturday and at Ferrum on Sunday.
