ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - LaGrange lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Ferrum at the USA South Tournament on Sunday. The Panthers finished third in the tournament after entering as the eighth-seed.
Ferrum's Rachel Shumaker and the Panthers' Kayla Folds locked up in a pitcher's duel.
Folds allowed the only run and two hits, walking two and striking out three. Shumaker did not allow a hit, walked four and struck out five.
Shumaker also had the only two hits in the game at the plate. She drove in the game's only run with a double in the fifth inning.
Folds and Christy Flick were selected to the All-Tournament team.
The Panthers (18-18) host Agnes Scott on Thursday in a non-conference doubleheader.
