GREENSBORO, N.C. - Greensboro took both games of a USA South doubleheader from LaGrange on Friday. The Pride (16-9, 10-4 USA South) won 7-4 and 5-1 over the Panthers (11-13, 6-10 USA South).
Christy Flick went 4-for-6 in the twinbill for the Panthers and scored two runs. Kalin Oglesby had three hits and drove in two runs. Courtney Beshel had a triple included in her two hits.
Dani Gravett (5-6) started the first game for the Panthers. She was followed by Kayla Folds and Kara Patterson. Patterson (0-3) was on the mound in the second game. Folds also pitched in the game.
Greensboro led 3-0 after the first inning of Game 1. The Panthers tied the game in the top of the second.
Laura Webber walked and Flick singled to start the inning. Webber came around to score on Lindsey Hogan's base hit. Flick and Hogan both scored as Oglesby reached to make it 3-3.
The Pride got two runs in their half of the second, then a run in each of the third and fifth innings to take a 7-3 lead. The Panthers got a two-out RBI single from Danielle Newbern to score Hogan in the seventh for the 7-4 final.
The Panthers pushed across a run in the seventh inning of the second game to avoid the shutout. Flick led off the inning with a single and eventually scored as Hogan reached on a grounder to first base.
The Panthers play at Methodist on Saturday in a USA South doubleheader.
