The LaGrange men picked up their second win of the 2010-11 season Thursday night at the Mariotti Gymnasium. The Panthers downed visiting Pensacola Christian 75-63 to up their record to 2-11.
Britt Gaylor tied for game scoring honors with 18 points off the bench. Gaylor made 5-of-7 from 3-point range. He scored 15 of his points in the second half. Nic Whitfield had 14 points off the bench.
Blake Craft and Marcus Vaughn each had double-doubles for the Panthers. Vaughn had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year. Craft had 10 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double.
Pensacola (3-11) was led by Nathan Meyers' 18 points. Mike Goetsch had 10 points off the bench.
The Panthers' bench outscored the Eagles' bench 40-27. The Panthers were 29-of-41 from the line, while the Eagles were 14-of-19.
The Panthers led 36-31 at halftime. They led by as many as nine on two occasions, the last coming with 3:58 left in the half.
Stephen Tuck scored off an assist from Stephen Spivey for a 32-23 lead. The Eagles cut the lead to three, 34-31, before Denzel Robinson hit a pair of free throws just before the half.
In the second half, Meyers put the Eagles up 45-43 with a put back of a missed shot. Gaylor put the Panthers ahead to stay, 47-45, with a 3-pointer.
Gaylor's final 3-pointer in the game gave the Panthers' their largest lead, 62-49 with 5:20 left. Pensacola got as close as six down the stretch, but the Panthers made 6-of-8 free throws to put the game away.
The Panthers host Rust on Saturday in a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
