Visiting Berry pulled away in the closing minutes for a 77-64 win over LaGrange at Mariotti Gymnasium on Wednesday. It was the fourth straight loss for the Panthers, now 2-15. The Vikings improved to 9-6.
Nic Whitfield led LaGrange with 19 points. Stephen Tuck had 11 points. Marcus Vaughn had a game-high 11 rebounds.
Berry had four players in double figures, led by Tim Miles' game-high 22 points. David Holloman had 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Panthers trailed by as many as eight points in the first half. Britt Gaylor's 3-pointer tied the game at 31 with 2:09 left in the half.
Denzel Robinson hit a 3-pointer of his own to put the Panthers up 34-33. But Matt Mixer answered with a 3-pointer for the Vikings to give them a 36-34 halftime lead.
The Panthers fell behind by 10 points in the first four minutes of the second half. Berry kept the Panthers at bay until late in the game.
Whitfield and Tuck scored on back-to-back possessions to put the Panthers up 61-60 with five minutes left. But Tim Miles quickly answered for the Vikings with a jumper.
Berry never trailed again after Miles' basket. The Vikings outscored the Panthers 17-4 the rest of the game. The Vikings scored their final 11 points at the free throw line.
The Panthers host Huntingdon in a GSAC game Saturday at 2 p.m.
