The LaGrange basketball teams open GSAC Championship Tournament play Friday. The tournament is being hosted by Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.
The Panther women are the number two seed for the second straight year. They will face third-seeded Piedmont in the semifinals for the second straight year. Last year, the Lady Lions ended the Panthers season with a 66-61 loss. The teams split their two games this season, Piedmont winning 75-62 in Demorest, with the Panthers winning at home 64-58.

The Panther men will face top-seeded Maryville in the semifinals. Maryville defeated the Panthers 68-62 in the GSAC championship game last season. Maryville won both meetings this season, winning 66-63 in Maryville and 81-69 at LaGrange.
