The Great South Athletic Conference announced its men's basketball awards Thursday.
Senior forward Nic Whitfield was selected to the team for the third straight year. He leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game. Whitfield is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 6.1 rebounds per game. He also is shooting a team and conference best 61.1 percent from the floor.
Whitfield is only the seventh LaGrange player to reach 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career. He is the first three-time all-conference selection for the Panthers since Deante Traylor did it from 1992-94.
Sophomore guard Marcus Vaughn joined Whitfield on the team. Vaughn, a member of the all-freshman team last season, was second to Whitfield in scoring, averaging 11.6 points per game. He led the team in rebounding, averaging 8.0 rebounds per game.
Denzel Robinson was selected to the GSAC All-Freshman team. He averaged 6.7 points per game this season. Robinson was the GSAC Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 19. He played in all 25 games this season.
Seniors Britt Gaylor and Stephen Tuck earned GSAC All-Academic honors. Gaylor is a political science major with a 3.26 GPA. Tuck has a 4.0 GPA in the masters of education program.
