LaGrange got back-to-back walk off wins to sweep a doubleheader from Agnes Scott on Saturday at the LaGrange Softball Complex.
Freshman Hannah Kadel hit a pinch-hit two-run home run in her first collegiate at-bat to win Game 1 8-7. Senior Kalin Oglesby's one out single drove in the winning run as the Panthers (3-1) completed the sweep with the 5-4 Game 2 victory.
In the first game, Agnes Scott (1-7) led 2-0 after five innings.
The Panthers exploded for six runs in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead. Taylor Tallant's two-run double tied the game. Jessica Smith reached on an error and Jalyn Kelley walked to load the bases. Maegan Harrison followed with a grand slam over the left field fence, the first collegiate home run for the freshman.
The Scotties came back with three runs in the sixth, then two more in the seventh on a home run by Bailea Robinson to retake the lead, 7-6.
In the Panthers' half of the seventh, Harrison singled with one out. Kadel came to the plate as a pinch-hitter. She drove the second pitch she saw over the left center field fence to give the Panthers the dramatic 8-7 win. Kadel said after the game she had only hit a home on a travel softball squad, never one in high school.
The late-inning dramatics continued in the second game. The Panthers led 3-1 through five innings, but the Scotties came back with three runs in the sixth to go up 4-3.
The Panthers tied the game in their half of the sixth. Smith reached on an error to start the inning. She eventually scored as Harrison reached on an infield hit.
The Scotties had the go-ahead run on third with one out in the eighth. But Kara Patterson (1-0) retired the final two batters to get out of the inning.
Oglesby came to the plate with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the inning. She hit the chalk on the left field line as Breanna Wallace came home with the winning run.
The Panthers play at Wesleyan on Sunday in a non-conference doubleheader.
