MACON, Ga. - LaGrange banged out 17 hits to down Wesleyan 11-5 to gain a split of a doubleheader Sunday. The Panthers (4-2) lost the first game 8-0 to the Wolves (1-7).
Freshman Maegan Harrison had three hits, including a double, and drove in five runs. Harrison was one of four Panthers with three hits. Kalin Oglesby, Carolyn Harkness, and Delani White joined Harrison.
White was a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and scored another three runs. Olgesby scored two runs and had three RBIs, while Harkness scored three runs.
The Panthers built a 7-2 lead through five innings. Harrison had a bases clearing three-run double to highlight a four-run inning.
After Wesleyan cut the lead to 7-5, the Panthers put the game out of reach with a four-run seventh inning.
Oglesby drove in the first run of the inning with a single. After Harkness reached on an error that brought in a run, Harrison capped her day with a two-run base hit to make it 11-5.
Emily Cauldwell (1-0) pitched five innings to get the win. She allowed four runs on seven hits.
The Panthers were limited to three hits in the first game. Sydney Hodorff had a double, the only extra base hit for the Panthers. Dani Gravett (2-1) started and took the loss on the mound.
The Panthers host Huntingdon in a USA South doubleheader Wednesday starting at 3 p.m.
