LaGrange split a USA South conference doubleheader Saturday against Methodist at the LaGrange College Softball Complex.
The Panthers (13-12, 6-8 USA South) took the first game 2-0 and Methodist (6-24, 2-10) salvaged a split with a 2-1 win in eight innings in the second game.
Dani Gravett threw a complete game in Game 1 to up her record to 8-4. She allowed five hits, walked three and struck out two.
The Panthers got the game's only runs in the fifth inning. Kalin Oglesby led off with a single and one out later Brooke Turner had a base hit. Adrienne Little beat out an infield hit and Oglesby came around to score on a throwing error on the play. Turner came home on Maegan Harrison's sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
In the second game, Methodist took a 1-0 lead off Kara Patterson (4-3) in the third inning. The Panthers tied the game in the fourth.
With one out, Turner doubled to the left field fence. She moved over to third on Little's single through the right side and scored when Harrison flied out to right field.
The game remained tied through seven innings. The Monarch pushed across the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth. The Panthers had the tying run on third when left fielder Kelsey Harrington took a hit away from Little with a diving catch to end the game.
The Panthers host N.C. Wesleyan in another USA South doubleheader Sunday starting at noon.
