Senior pitcher Kara Patterson received the Dr. Waights G. Henry Academic Award at the annual athletics ceremony Wednesday in Callaway Auditorium. The award is given to the female scholar-athlete with the highest grade point average.
Patterson, an early childhood major from Walnut Grove, Ga., will graduate summa cum laude with a 3.971 GPA. She has been a four-year member of the Panther softball team. This season, she was part of the Panthers' starting rotation and awarded the team's Breakout Player of the Year. In her career, Patterson was 14-14 with a 3.39 ERA.
