LaGrange pushed its winning streak to four games with a non-conference sweep of Judson on Tuesday at the LC Softball Complex.
The Panthers (10-9) needed only five innings to win the first game 8-0, but had to go an extra inning to take the second game 2-1.
The Panthers got complete game pitching performances from seniors Dani Gravett and Kara Patterson. Gravett (6-3) allowed only three hits, walked three and struck out seven in the first game. In the second game, Patterson (3-1) went the distance for the third straight game with two of the games going an extra inning. She held the Eagles to four hits, walked only one, and struck out two.
Jessica Smith's double to right center drove in Sydney Hodorff in the second inning of the second game to put the Panthers up 1-0. The Eagles tied the game with a run in the third and it remained 1-1 heading to the eighth inning.
Carolyn Harkness opened the eighth for the Panthers with an infield hit. Ashley Chaffin followed with a bunt single. Delani White's sacrifice bunt moved both runners up and Kalin Oglesby walked to load the bases. Gravett followed with a fly ball to center that was deep enough for Harkness to score from third with the winning run.
In the first game, Gravett had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in four runs as the Panthers took advantage of six Eagle errors to end the game on the 8-run mercy rule.
Gravett's two-run double with two out in the second gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead. They broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning.
Brooke Turner had a two-run single in the inning. Smith capped the inning with a two-run double to up the Panthers' lead to 6-0. Gravett ended the game in the fifth with a double down the left field line, scoring White and Oglesby for the 8-0 final.
The Panthers play USA South doubleheaders at Greensboro and Averett on Friday and Saturday.
