Dr. Justin Thurman serves as Faculty Athletic Representative, Associate Professor of English, Director of the Writing Center and Co-Director of the Ethos First Year Experience program at LaGrange College.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature and creative writing and a master’s in English and writing from the University of Nevada, Reno. Thurman earned his doctoral degree in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Thurman's teaching honors at LC include the John R. Hines Jr. Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Research and Vulcan Materials Co. Teaching Excellence awards. His work has been featured in several publications, and he has made academic presentations at conferences around the country. Thurman has also participated in workshops and conferences, and he served as a judge for the National Council of Teachers of English Norman Mailer College Writing awards.
Thurman is active in the community, having volunteered with Troup County Parks & Recreation and Lafayette Society for Performing Arts.
